Technical Requirements
Decision Tree is an Internet-based application. A high-speed internet connection is therefore recommended. In order for the application to run smoothly, the user should have the following technical software and settings:
1. Browser
- The latest Browser version of Microsoft Internet Explorer is recommended.
- Other popular browsers such as Google Chrome can be used but certain windows and pop-up panes may appear differently in other browsers
2. Screen
- A minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 is required.
- Screen Resolutions of 1280 x 1024 pixels are recommended
- If a user has a smaller screen resolution than the minimum screen resolution, the user will not be warned and can continue to the site if he/she wishes; however, the user will have to scroll frequently to view all screen content
3. Security
- The security certificate is issued on an annual basis.
- If it happens that a user’s date on their system is incorrect for that year, it will raise a problem with the certificate.
4. Firewall
- Please ensure that your firewall and content filtering software allows the secured site https://www.decisiontree.co.za on port 443
- Some firewall software might also require you to add sites to a “white list” of trusted sites.
5. JavaScript
Browser Settings:
- The latest JavaScript is required and needs to be enabled.
- Make sure Cookies are enabled. You can also go to Sites if it is enabled to add the website “www.decisiontree.co.za” to allow cookies for Decision Tree.
- The Decision Tree website makes use of popup windows. Allow popups for Decision Tree. Go to your Internet Explorer, under menu items, Tools, Internet Options, Privacy Tab, at the bottom go to Settings and add website “.decisiontree.co.za” to the Pop-up Blocker Settings Exception list.
6. Applications
- Application Software such as PDF viewer is required if the user wants to view reports generated in PDF format. The PDF format can be viewed with Adobe Acrobat Reader or compatible software.
- Word and Excel viewer is required if the user wants to view reports generated in Word and Excel format. The reports are generated in Word 2003 and Excel 2003 format and can be viewed and edited with Microsoft Office 2003 or compatible software.
